Artistic Evening by the Ghassaniyeh Schools Choir in Homs
The stage of the Culture Palace in
Homs hosted a special artistic evening titled “In Love and Peace”,
presented by the choir of the Ghassaniyeh Orthodox Private Schools in
cooperation with the Ecumenical Relations and Development Department of the
Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East. The event highlighted
the role of art as a universal language of unity and showcased the creative
potential of young students.
Traditional, Children’s, and Patriotic Songs
Led by Maysa Abu Deeb, the choir
performed a selection of traditional, children’s, and patriotic songs
celebrating the homeland and promoting values of peace, love, and brotherhood.
The students’ harmonious performance added a joyful and uplifting atmosphere to
the evening.
Conclusion of a Five‑Month Development Program
Jalal Sabbagh, coordinator of the
Homs region at the Ecumenical Relations and Development Department, explained
that this evening is the first of its kind after the liberation of Homs. It
marked the conclusion of a five‑month development program that resulted in the
establishment of the Ghassaniyeh Schools Choir, composed of talented students
in singing and music. He emphasized that the initiative aims to build creative
generations capable of contributing to the country’s future.
A Message of Love
and Peace from Syria
Bashar Al‑Sabai, head of the Homs
City Council, stated that the event reflects Syria’s message of love and peace
to the world and embodies the joint efforts of government and civil society to
strengthen national unity. He highlighted the importance of artistic events in
reinforcing social cohesion.
A Long‑Standing Educational Legacy
Dr. Farhan Farah, director of the
Ghassaniyeh Orthodox Private Schools, noted that the schools have a long
history dating back to 1887 and currently serve around 2,600 students across
all educational levels. He affirmed their commitment to graduating cultured
generations who value Syrian identity and heritage.
Accompanying Performances and Inspiring Stories
The evening included additional
artistic presentations, such as a documentary video showcasing the achievements
of the Ecumenical Relations and Development Department. One student shared an
emotional story about his journey from Saudi Arabia to Homs after liberation
and how the Child Protection Program transformed his life.
A Strong Attendance Reflecting the Power of Art
The event drew significant
attendance from officials, religious figures, community members, families, and
students, underscoring the vital role of art in promoting peace, love, and
unity within Syrian society.
