Cultural Forum in Homs Explores Human Development as a Path to Overcoming Psychological and Social Crises
A cultural forum hosted at the Sami Al‑Droubi
Hall in the Homs Cultural Center brought together academics and
specialists in psychology and human development. Organized by Dopamine
Development Association and supported by the Homs Directorate
of Culture, the event was held under the theme “Building the Human Being… The
Foundation of Building the Nation.”
Inner Peace as the First Step Toward Social Stability
Dr. Abdul‑Fattah
Al‑Humaidi, head of the association and a consultant in
psychotherapy, emphasized that crises often leave internal conflicts that may escalate
into broader social tensions if left unaddressed. He highlighted the need for psychological
recovery programs and for empowering civil society institutions
to support mental health through integrated spiritual, cognitive, emotional,
and physical approaches.
Empowerment as a Tool for Restoring Confidence
Dr. Salam Khattab,
lecturer at the Faculty of Education at Homs University, explained that
empowering individuals helps restore self‑confidence after periods of
frustration. She noted that empowerment extends beyond psychological support to
include cultural,
intellectual, and institutional reinforcement, enabling
individuals to recognize their value within society.
Dialogue and Collective Vision for a Stronger Society
The forum concluded with an open
discussion in which participants agreed that investing in people is the
cornerstone of societal progress, and that building the human
being is the true beginning of building a cohesive and resilient nation.
Culture as a Means of Healing
In a time marked by accumulating
crises, the forum underscored that culture is not a luxury but a tool for
healing and reshaping identity. When human development becomes
the center of attention, the nation begins to recover from within, laying the
groundwork for sustainable growth and social stability.
