The ICT Incubator in Homs discusses six student entrepreneurial projects.
The ICT Incubator in Homs, in collaboration with the Homs
Chamber of Commerce, organized a special meeting to evaluate six innovative
student projects in the fields of healthcare, services, and education. The
meeting aimed to explore the potential of developing these projects into
market-ready products.
Joint Evaluation by the Incubator and Chamber of Commerce
Eng. Hala Jahjah, Director of the Incubator, explained that
a joint committee from both the incubator and the Chamber reviewed projects
that had reached approximately 70% completion. The committee provided
developmental feedback to ensure alignment with market needs, emphasizing
support for ideas that can be transformed into real, applicable ventures.
Supporting Innovation and Linking Youth to the Market
Dr. Mohammad Bashar Al-Sibai, a member of the Chamber of
Commerce, highlighted the Chamber’s commitment to supporting creative youth,
especially those working on projects that serve the community and address real
challenges. He noted that the Chamber plays a key role in connecting these
projects with potential investors and fostering a culture of innovation among
young people.
Continuous Follow-Up and Training Programs
Evaluation committee member Mazen Najib stated that this
meeting builds on a previous session focused on reviewing incubation
applications, with particular attention to service-oriented and practical
ideas. He praised the incubator’s role in offering training programs that help
students refine and develop their projects.
Promising Student Projects
Fatima Al-Zahraa Al-Haj Ahmad, a student from the Faculty of
Informatics Engineering, presented an accounting software project designed to
support small businesses. She emphasized the importance of adopting such ideas
to encourage creativity and provide practical solutions for the community.
The Incubator’s Role in Supporting the Tech Sector
The incubator is part of the Syrian Computer Society’s
initiatives and aims to establish small and medium-sized enterprises in the ICT
sector. It also focuses on promoting innovative, value-added products,
contributing to the growth and development of Syria’s technology sector.
