The Homs Directorate of Culture organized a spiritual chanting evening titled “Ramadan Breezes” at the Cultural Palace, featuring performances that blended emotional depth with uplifting rhythms in celebration of the holy month of Ramadan.

Spiritual Chants and Energetic Performances

The evening was performed by Roh Al‑Sham Ensemble, with the participation of the Al‑Kharrat Whirling Dervish Group from Damascus. The performers presented a selection of religious chants and supplications reflecting the spiritual and social essence of Ramadan. The program opened with traditional devotional muwashahat, followed by energetic youth chants, revolutionary-themed pieces, and a special chant dedicated to Palestine, all of which were warmly received by the audience.

A Message Bridging Authenticity and Modernity

Abdul‑Karim Al‑Shamiya, director of Roh Al‑Sham Ensemble, explained that the group consists of young performers committed to delivering the art of chanting in a modern style while preserving its authentic roots, creating a smooth bridge between tradition and contemporary expression.

Cultural Presence During Ramadan

Mohammad Al‑Alloush, director of the Media Office at the Homs Directorate of Culture, noted that the event is part of the directorate’s Ramadan cultural program. He emphasized that such evenings strengthen the artistic and spiritual presence in the hearts of Homs residents, offering families a space to gather around meaningful words and serene voices that elevate public taste and reflect the noble values of the holy month.

Audience Impressions

Audience member Zuhair Khousan expressed his admiration for the performance, noting that this type of chanting revives spiritual emotions during Ramadan and praising the harmony between music, lyrics, and performance.

A Cultural Event Enriching Ramadan Evenings

The event is part of a broader series of cultural activities organized by the Homs Directorate of Culture to enrich the artistic and spiritual atmosphere during Ramadan and to provide the public with opportunities to engage with traditional and devotional arts.
